...Excited about the first photo assignment for Beyond Layers.
It has ALL the elements I love more & more these days. Simplicity, light, negative space, subtle texture, purposeful with meaning.
I couldn't wait to get off work today. It was hard to focus on fractions and ten frames when I knew I really wanted to be home "playing".
So today's image is shot at f 8.0, 1/50 ISO 500 Canon 50mm 1.8 lens.
I used Kim's Awaken layer on Darken. I hardly use this blend mode, but it filled in a blown spot at the top right corner of the photo. I also used a bit of Florabella VINTAGE WASH. It tones down a bit of brassiness and it brought out some fiber highlights on the string.
If you've thought about joining Beyond Layers...it's not to late!
Happy Snapping!

Yes, yes, yes.... incredible! You did an amazing job. (smiling all over the place)
ReplyDeleteLove this photo and the new look to your blog. I joined Beyond Layers too...love the new texture she made for today's assignment.
ReplyDeleteI like the new look of your blog! It's nice to change things up occassionally (at least that's the rationale I give the Better Half when I want some new furniture, haha). Hmmmmm, it isn't too late to join that class with Kim? I'll have to check it out. I took her introductory texture class last year and learned so much! But still so much more to learn.

Beautiful texture throughout the image...table top, twine, shine key....love it!
ReplyDeleteWonderful take a bow
ReplyDeleteKelly! You are in Beyond Layers too! :) Yay!
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS image! I mean GORGEOUS! I loved the assignment today - simplistic. That's my forte. Shoot one thing and try to shoot it well. Too much going on in a photograph makes me dizzy. So happy you're there!
Such a gorgeous shot! Enjoy this journey you are on...can't wait to see all that you create!
ReplyDeleteA lovely little bottle and key. Yes, we are on a journey ... together. You've done a fabulous job here. And I know exactly the excitement you express about wanting to be home "playing." ;->
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Kelly, love the textures in your photo and applied, love the simple beauty!
