I have so many
So for today's Beyond Layers were talking about light & blur.
I get my blur from using my prime 50mm 1.8. I HAD to have that lens before I even knew anything about photography & I hated it...at first. There was such an margin of error. I spent a lot of time swooning & drooling over photos from that lens. I just loved the effect. So towards the end of my self portrait 365-I MADE myself use it...no matter what. And now? I CAN'T live without it!
Like Kim, I know the best time to shoot in my makeshift studio formally known as our formal dining room! We have east facing window with the most beautiful natural light.
I've included the original shot.
50mm, f/6.3, 1/50 ISO 500 manual mode
Florabella's B/W Chestnut pass thru @80%
KK's Lily (I skewed it) color burn @ 70%
Happy Snapping

ARGH...so much I "need"! Like a prime 50mm lens AND a room with good light! Oh yeah...and a macro too (since I'm begging!) haha. Gorgeous editing you did here. I just adore this light and airy look.
ReplyDeleteKathy
I have the 50mm 1.2...I rarely leaves my camera...it's the best investment I ever made. This photo is gorgeous Kelly!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful K!
ReplyDeleteWonderful light and comp .... just perfect!!!
Mwah!
lovely. sweet little still life.
ReplyDeletei got the 50mm/1.4 recently for my 40th birthday! i miss zooming in and out, but everything else about it is worth it, and it is now the only lens i use.
They don't call them nifty fifty for nothing huh?
DeleteWonderful! My prime lens arrived today. Can't wait to take it for a spin.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with it but be patient ok?
DeleteYou know, I, too, have a make-shift studio. Its in my once formal living room which has been torn apart and resembles a living room no more. Total mess! But I do my best work in there - so, well, we never sat in there anyway.
ReplyDeleteLove your shots and love that you showed what you did. I love my 50mm lens and just took photos for Beyond Layers using it today as well. Your lighting is fantastic, by the way! Well done! :)
It's fun to have so many "shutter sisters" hanging out with Kim.
DeleteIt is! :)

DeleteWell, hello! Fancy seeing you here. I wondered if I'd ever see you again… you disappeared so suddenly!! :P
ReplyDeleteThe blog thing was my attempt at doing a 365 & entertaining myself enough to stick with it. Haha! I should have known better!!
I dropped the 365 after 12 days but decided to keep the blog. I'm uploading photo's but not doing much else there. It's good to see you again & your images here are beautiful. Jacqui x
